survivors dream about the future
Koki, Sneha, and Rahila share their dreams for the future.

Thanks to a generous donor, over 50 survivors from different NGOs (non-government organizations) like Freedom Firm attended a workshop from different states to explore their future dreams. The girls participated in several activities that taught them how to achieve their dreams. Each survivor shared her dream, the steps she would take to pursue it, and her ideas of how she would handle challenges along the way.

Koki and Sneha from Uttar Pradesh (rescued when they were 13 years old from Moradabad, UP) and Rahila from Kolkata (rescued twice when she was 17 years old) shared their dreams with the group.

Koki wants to master tailoring and then open a boutique. (Koki lives with her young siblings and grandmother, who is battling stage 4 cancer.)

Sneha wants to start a small home business offering beauty services and gain experience before opening her own beauty parlor in Agra. (Sneha was sold into trafficking by her grandmother when she was 13 years old. After over five years of counseling, Sneha finally decided to testify against her grandmother in 2024.)

Rahila completed a beauticianโ€™s course and wants to join a parlor where she can gain more experience before opening her own beauty parlor. (Rahila's poverty-stricken family was an easy target for traffickers who lured her into prostitution with the promise of money.)

Survivors also shared their dreams of becoming lawyers, teachers, and nurses. One survivor shared that her case was closed and she never received justice for the crimes she endured. She dreams of meeting the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to ask her why she was denied justice and to request that she reopen her case.

Each dream was inspiring while also a sober reminder that these young girls were deprived of the childhood they deserved, including the simple joy of dreaming about the future. We are so grateful to each donor who allows these girls to now take the steps necessary to pursue their hopes and dreams. ๐ŸŒŸโญ๐Ÿ’—
