In June 2024, our team rescued Hema from a hotel in Akola, Maharashtra. The police arrested the hotel owner, who applied for bail at the Sessions Court in Akola but was denied. He then applied for bail in the Bombay High Court-Nagpur Bench, so Hema was summoned to give her statement in court.
On March 19, accompanied by social worker Bharti and a support person appointed by the Child Welfare Committee, Hema gave her statement at the Bombay High Court—Nagpur Bench.

Hema, Bharti, and the support person then met the legal aid assigned to represent Hema. She insisted that her offender should NOT be granted bail.
Hema will return to the High Court in two weeks for another hearing.
After attending to her legal matters for the day, Hema sat back and enjoyed lunch. Sadly, Hema has to keep repeating her traumatic experiences every time she is called to a different court; nevertheless, she continues to advocate for herself with strength and courage. We are proud of Hema and continue to stand with her in her fight for justice.
