We are overjoyed to share that Shradha, a minor whose case was referred to us in 2021 by the Wathoda police in Nagpur, was granted 300,000 rupees (about $3,650) in compensation under the Manodhairya Womens Scheme. Shradha was thrilled to receive the money. She was rescued by the Wathoda police on May 18, 2021, from a private brothel in Nagpur. Her poverty-stricken family, rough neighborhood, and bad circle of friends made her an easy target for traffickers.
When we first met Shradha, she was 15-years-old and living in a shelter home in Nagpur. She joined our life skill sessions and skill development program. Remarkably, she scored 81% on her 10th grade board exams. She is currently studying in 12th grade. She wants to become a nurse and is willing to work hard to make her dream come true.
Last week, Shradha went to the Sessions Court in Nagpur to testify. Our lawyer represented her and fought to bring all her perpetrators to justice.
