Meera Rescued from Ganga Jamuna for the Third Time

Our team rescued Meera from Ganga Jamuna, Nagpur, for the second time in September 2023. She barely spent a few weeks in the shelter home before the court released her back to her family in early November against our recommendation. Once again, we learned that Meera was again back in the red light area in Ganga Jamuna.

We attempted to rescue Meera twice but were unable to; first, the police were unavailable, and the second time, Meera was not at the brothel. We met with the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Police Inspector in Nagpur and shared about Meera being rescued twice before and re-trafficked.

We decided to try a new approach since Meera and the pimps were familiar with our earlier strategy, but before we could finalize our plan, the police conducted a mass raid in Ganga Jamuna. On January 4th, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., Meera was rescued along with 31 other women and girls. The police detained 15 people, including customers, pimps, and brothel keepers. Meera is once again in a shelter home, and we are making every effort to protect her from being trafficked again.
