Rescued At Last

Tani and the building where she was trapped

Tani was finally rescued from a brothel in West Bengal on April 14th, 2022. Tani is 16 years old, and Freedom Firm worked for over six months to rescue her. After two previous attempts, the timing finally worked out on this third rescue attempt. Tani was in the brothel when the Freedom Firm team arrived to rescue her!

Tani now lives in a shelter home. The week after the rescue, a Freedom Firm social worker visited Tani’s home to complete the Home Investigation Report. The visit revealed that Tani's family is not economically stable and she may be vulnerable to re-trafficking if she returns home. The Freedom Firm team will continue advocating that Tani stays in the shelter home for her protection.

Tani participates in Freedom Firm’s life skills sessions with the other girls who live in the shelter home. We are so thankful she is free to learn and enjoy fun activities with her peers!
