Sugi*and Chaya*, two Bangladeshi girls, were brought to India on the pretext of a job and sold into prostitution in Wani’s red-light district. They were there for two weeks when Freedom Firm investigators reported that Sugi was in high demand as she was young and pretty. Freedom Firm and local police rescued the girls on May 31st, and they were placed in safe custody.
Sugi and Chaya have returned to their villages in Bangladesh and have been reunited with their families and their children. They expressed their desire not to be involved in prostitution but look forward to the future and are grateful for where they are now.
