Two Girls Rescued in Salem Raid

Kaveri* and Banu* were rescued on Tuesday, 6th January in a raid conducted by Freedom Firm and local police in Salem, Tamil Nadu. Charges have been filed against four of the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the ITPA (Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act, 1956).

The girls were kept at a house run by a couple and shuttled to and fro to a lodge where the business was run. Kaveri was so eager to escape that she had run away previously but was sent back into prostitution by her parents.

This time her prayers for rescue were answered. Currently, the girls are in a safe governmental shelter home as our staff prepare to visit the homes of the girls to check if it is safe for them to return.
